CORE SYSTEMSSystems Assessment & Modernization

Which security fix is most urgent?

Unsure where your application is vulnerable or which security alert to address first? I review the application and development process to identify weaknesses and help prioritize fixes.

Alerts alone do not reveal the actual risk.

The severity of a technical weakness also depends on the data, functionality or business process it affects.

01

Is there no clear process for updating vulnerable components?I assess external dependencies and update practices in the context of the running application to establish justified remediation priorities.

02

Is it unclear who has access to data and credentials?I review authentication, permissions, key management and trust boundaries between components.

03

Do security gaps only emerge just before release?I examine development and release checks and recommend where errors could be detected earlier.

04

Unsure about your website or portal's data protection (GDPR) compliance?I check how cookies, trackers and forms work and provide specific recommendations. The review covers technical aspects. Assessing legal compliance is the responsibility of a data protection lawyer.

How the work proceeds

Two professionals reviewing application security risks and remediation steps.
01

Defining the review

We define the review boundaries and permitted methods. For web applications, I select checks from the relevant OWASP ASVS requirements.

02

Technical review

I examine the application against OWASP Top 10 risks. I assess permissions against the principle of least privilege and use software composition analysis (SCA) to identify known vulnerabilities in dependencies.

03

Prioritizing risks

I use threat modeling to identify potential attack paths. I prioritize findings based on exploitability, affected data and business consequences.

04

Remediation plan

I recommend fixes using defense in depth so that failure of a single control does not leave the system unprotected. We agree responsibilities and how to verify the changes.

I tailor the checks to the application and authorized access. I document the selected requirements, review limitations and evidence supporting the findings.

What do you receive, and how can you use it?

  • Documented findings: a clear record of what I reviewed and which weaknesses I found.
  • Justified risk ratings: the team can identify urgent fixes.
  • Recommended development checks: earlier detection can become part of the workflow.
  • Verifiable technical tasks: fixes can be integrated into the team's work plan.

Development and operations teams can use the remediation plan to schedule tasks. We agree implementation and verification of fixes separately.

What is needed to get started?

  • The application or website to be reviewed and the purpose of the review
  • Available documentation and the authorized access needed for the review
  • The person responsible for the application or website, with a technical contact if needed
  • Agreed conditions for data handling and tool use

Frequently asked questions

How long does the review take?

I estimate the duration based on the applications and security areas to be reviewed.

Does it include penetration testing?

I conduct a technical review of the agreed areas. Penetration testing can only be included by separate agreement and with a suitable specialist partner.

Does the review certify legal compliance?

No. The service provides technical findings and remediation recommendations. It is not a regulatory audit, certification or declaration of compliance. Legal compliance assessment is a separate discipline.

How do you handle confidential data?

We agree access, data handling and tools in advance. I only send confidential client data to external AI services with explicit prior approval.

Which risk do you need help assessing?

Tell me which application is involved and what concerns you. Access credentials and confidential technical details are not needed for the first enquiry.
